Bethesda, Maryland (December 19, 2012) - The United States Composting Council (USCC) is delighted to announce the election of Lorrie Loder of Synagro Technologies, LLC, as the new President of the US Composting Council.

Ms. Loder has been a USCC Board Member since 2010; she has served on the Executive Committee as Secretary and most recently, as Treasurer. Additionally, Ms. Loder was Chair of the USCC Communications Committee and actively serves as Secretary of the Composting Council Research and Education Foundation (CCREF). Outside of her work with USCC and in her role as Product Marketing Director for Synagro, Ms. Loder serves on the board of a number of community based organizations: Taft College Foundation, the Kern Tree Foundation, The Taft Community Garden, and the Taft Chamber of Commerce.

"Lorrie's tireless efforts to raise funds, sponsor activities, and provide sound leadership to a breadth of USCC committees and community based organizations make her an incredible asset to this Council," Michael Virga said. He added, "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work more closely with her in her new role as President of the Council; her professional experience is outstanding and together we can lead the Association to new heights."

The board also welcomes two newly elected, first time board members, Brian Fleury of WeCare Organics and Paul Sellew of Harvest Power. Mr. Fleury is a Senior Project Manager with WeCare Organics, a long time sponsor of industry activities and founding member of the CCREF's Two Cent's for Compost Program, which provides funds for critical research and education projects. Mr. Sellew is Founder and CEO of Harvest Power, a leading manager of organics in North America with a focus on maximizing the value through production of renewable energy, organic based fertilizer and compost based soil and mulch products.

"Having new members ensures a dynamic, fluid group that brings new ideas to further the growth of the USCC and the industry it represents," Michael explained. "Brian and Paul are excellent additions to the USCC Board."

Joining Ms. Loder on the Executive Committee is Rodney Tyler of Filtrexx International, LLC, as Vice-President, Craig Coker of Coker Consulting as Treasurer, and Ron Alexander of R. Alexander Associates as Secretary.
