Discover Soils from the "Ground Up" at New NRCS Website
It’s all about soils. USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service has just released “Discover Soils from the Ground Up!”, an online hub of information about soils for everyone, from conservation professionals to school kids.
For soils pros, there’s a library of NRCS technical information and research on soils and soil use in the U.S. and around the world, and videos of soils seminars by NRCS soils experts. Plus, there are educational items, including soils lesson plans for teachers of K through college, a list of state soils and “Ask the Answer Worm” that features fun pages that teach kids about soils and earn a certificate that names them an honorary worm.
Visitors also get free downloads—the SoilWeb app that uses GIS technology to deliver information about nearby soils straight to smartphones and a poster that shows what happened in history during the time it took a single inch of soil to form.
