FIBER MARKETING INTERNATIONAL INC.

Rainier Fiber is a 100% virgin wood fiber from clean, fresh-cut Western softwood chips. Fiber separation is by thermo-mechanical defibration, utilizing a high-temperature steam combined with mechanical action. This combination of clean wood chips and heat produces the best sterile and toxic-free mulch available to germinate and grow seed, stolons, and sprigs. Rainier Fiber Plus Tacifier has a high-grade organic tacifier uniformly mixed with the wood fiber. This gives stronger bonding of the fibers to the soil and increased erosion protection on slopes.

GATOR GUARD ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTS INC.

In today’s market, contractors need tough, lasting, effective, economical BMPs. Gator Guard wattles have five years of life expectancy, 20 times less soil loss than straw wattles, and real cost savings—even for single use. They survive tires, tracks, wind, water, and sun on several projects. Made from UV-resistant geotextile and stuffed with recycled foam, a 25-foot wattle weighs only eight pounds, including nails provided. New, larger foam pieces minimize litter from major rips. Ponding action captures more silt and clay, lowering NTUs.

EAST COAST EROSION BLANKETS

The GroundControl Hydromulch is the newest addition to East Coast Erosion Control’s product line. It is a patent-pending straw-and-cotton plant material mixture created to assist with erosion control. The products are developed in coordination with Cotton Inc. and have a low carbon-to-nitrogen ratio to assist with rapid and healthy vegetation. Applications include mild to steep slopes and dust control, and can be completed in one-step process. Low water-to-mulch proportion allows the end user to apply more product per tank, saving in refilling and water. The easy color-coded product guide is as simple as 1-2-3.

ENVIRO-USA

Enviro-USA DOT Type 1-, 2-, and 3-Compliant Floating Turbidity Barriers, permeable as well as impermeable (as pictured), are essential for controlling and keeping silt or sediment from traveling outside of your work zone in all marine construction projects. Permeable curtains (with black filter fabric in the skirt) are ideal for allowing water to flow through while in current or tidal applications, whereas Impermeable are more commonly used for calm water applications. The skirt depth is normally based on the work zone water depth.

FINN CORP.

Finn TRU-Mulches are produced from high-quality virgin woods for use in hydroseeding and erosion control applications. All Finn TRU-Mulch products are produced using an advanced “Double Refining” process, whereby high-pressure steam is used to soften the virgin pine and poplar wood chips before they are put through a second process that refines the wood chips into the long fibers required for effective mechanical cross-linking. All the Finn TRU-Mulch products are made from high-quality pines and poplars, and are consistent in fiber size and texture for optimal performance. The product is shipped in easy-to-handle, quick-loading, specially designed, UV-resistant 50-pound bags, and includes non-toxic green dye to aid in even application and to provide instant aesthetic appeal.

WESTERN EXCELSIOR

Tackmat is an enhanced erosion control blanket manufactured by Western Excelsior.  Tackmat is available in numerous varieties, developed to provide economy and performance across the spectrum of possible applications. The photograph shows a landfill project in North Carolina where a Tackmat variety was placed along a series of steep gradient slopes (seeded prior to application) and allowed to vegetate. The vegetation established quickly, benefitting from a completely stable seedbed and nurturing mulch and resulted in a dense, healthy stand.

S&S SEEDS

The pressure is on to use plants native to our local ecosystems and adapted to limited rainfall. Architects, Land Planners, State Agencies and Homeowners throughout California are being asked to do more with less. In response, S&S Seeds and Delta Bluegrass have teamed up to develop a very attractive and sensible lineup of Native Seeded Grass Sods for commercial and residential applications. Since the early 2000s, Delta has pioneered the integration of native seeds into their sod mixes. It was, therefore, a logical next step to develop wholly Native Sods for the marketplace. S&S Seeds’ vast seed bank and Delta’s years of sod development have produced nothing short of a paradigm shift in grass options for commercial and residential lawns. Delta’s sod-growing operation in Stockton and S&S Seeds’ daily deliveries from Carpinteria mean customers can order today, the sod will be harvested tomorrow, and delivery made on the next day, assuring the freshest product and best chance for planting success.

J. W. FAIRCLOTH & SON INC.

Faircloth Skimmer surface drains float on the surface of the sediment basin as it fills and drains, releasing the cleanest water from the surface instead of draining muddy water from the bottom as conventional outlets do. The skimmer drains the basin slowly over several days at a constant rate to maximize settling. The adjustable orifice regulates the filling and drawdown of the basin and improves efficiency.

EARTH CHEM INC.

Even on very steep slopes, EarthBound successfully replaces costly erosion control blankets. Applied with seed or mulch, or applied alone for temporary soil stabilization, this technology will save time and money. EarthBound can be applied in any kind of weather, and it is active and effective immediately. EarthBound is specifically formulated to stabilize soil structure and to hold mulch in place. Field tests at the Texas Transportation Institute proved that EarthBound supports excellent vegetative growth and reduces soil erosion by 85% on 2:1 slopes. EarthBound is a superior tackifier. The long molecules that make up EarthBound provide unparalleled strength in binding paper and wood-fiber mulches to the soil. EarthBound lasts longer than other plant-based tackifiers. There is no need to reapply tackifier and mulch after a few rains.
