Tanya Adams

Professional Achievement Award—Public Member
Tanya Adams, recycling coordinator, Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division, Elkton, Maryland
Nominated by Peter Bieniek, chief, Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division

Ms. Adams has won numerous awards for her work in recycling, public speaking, and organic food preservation. Her dedication to ethical, sustainable, integrated solid waste management, coupled with a salt-of-the-earth attitude, has made her someone those in her community trust as a steward of the environment. In late 2006 she began the task of expanding recycling in Cecil County—and four years later Cecil County is recognized as a leader in recycling and environmental programs. The nine recycling programs offered in the county have blossomed to 30, including Household Hazardous Waste Events with Medications Acceptance, Proper Sharps Disposal, Fluorescent Lamp Recycling, and Electronics Recycling. As a result, the county has won numerous local, state, federal, and international awards. This award recognizes Tanya for her valuable and distinguished contributions to the association, her employing organization, and the general public.

Dave is the southwest regional manager for E-Z Pack Manufacturing, where his specialties involve sales and service of all refuse collection vehicles working with municipal and private haulers. Dave has been a member of the SWANA Executive Committee, holding the position of WASTECON chair, since 2003. Prior to that, Dave held the position of WASTECON equipment show floor manager for several years. His dedication and service have impacted and benefited the industry in numerous positive ways.
