The conference program for this year’s StormCon—the North American Surface Water Quality Conference &
Exposition—is now available online. If you haven’t attended
the conference before, or if stormwater isn’t your main focus, check out the
program—this year StormCon has a lot to offer in the fields of erosion and
sediment control as well, particularly in the one- and two-day preconference
courses.
Shirley
Morrow will teach a two-day class on August 16 and 17 called “How to Write and
Maintain a Compliant SWPPP.” For those of you dealing with LID, a two-day class
by Larry Coffman, “Low-Impact Development: Introduction, Applications, and
Technical Implementation,” covers the basics as well as more advanced aspects,
including how LID fits in with NPDES requirements. There is also a new one-day
preconference workshop from EPA, “Managing Wet Weather With Green
Infrastructure.”
For
those working toward certification, review classes and exams will be offered for
three of them: the Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control
(CPESC), Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ), and Certified
Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC).
On
Tuesday through Thursday, along with the exhibit hall showcasing water-quality
technologies and BMPs, shorter sessions in six conference tracks will be
ongoing: BMP Case Studies, Low-Impact Development, Stormwater Program
Management, Water-Quality Monitoring, Advanced Research Topics, and Source
Control. As we get closer to the conference I’ll be highlighting some of the
sessions that have particular application to ESC.
StormCon will take place August 16 – 20, 2009, in Anaheim,
California.
