GATOR GUARD
In today’s market, contractors need tough, lasting, effective, economical BMPs. Gator Guard wattles have a life expectancy of five years, 20-times less soil loss than straw wattles, and real cost savings—even for single use. They survive tires, tracks, wind, water, and sun on several projects. Made from UV-resistant geotextile and stuffed with recycled foam, a 25-foot wattle weighs only 8 pounds, including nails provided. New, larger foam pieces minimize litter from major rips. Ponding action captures more silt and clay, lowering NTUs.

SUNSHINE SUPPLIES INC.
The Enfencer silt-fence installer is the only machine on the market capable of installing both support wire and silt-fence fabric into the ground at the same time without trenching. This technology meets the Federal Highway Administration FP-03 Silt Fence Specification. The Enfencer can insert geotextile fabric and support wire up to 12 inches deep. It also establishes a very high pullout resistance by creating a 2-inch crimp in the hog wire that bites into the ground.

CAROLINA PRECISION FIBERS INC.
Mulch & Grow Hybrid 70/30 Blend is one of the best choices available for hydroseeding applications. Specialized fibers are used in the manufacturing of this hybrid blend, consisting of 70% DLK fibers, the balance cellulose wood, and containing S.A.P. 1000. S.A.P. 1000 has a water-holding capacity of 1,500-times its own weight, which should reduce frequency of watering needed to produce a faster, fuller growth of the seedbed. Mulch & Grow Hybrid mixes easily in the customer’s tank, providing a thicker, more consistent slurry, which reduces loading time.

KING-HUGHES FASTENERS
King-Hughes manufactures the SR8G hog ring and HRP7 installation tool used in the installation of wire-backed silt fences (aka super-silt fences). Rings are galvanized to eliminate premature rusting. Rings are made of high-strength 16-gauge wire. A lightweight (less than 1 pound) installation tool allows easy operation. The rings will not degrade in sunlight like zip ties. Lower installation cost adds up to higher profits.

PROFILE PRODUCTS LLC
The GreenArmor System is the world’s most effective green-design engineering alternative to hard armor. Combining Enkamat Turf Reinforcement Mat (TRM) with Flexterra Flexible Growth Medium (FGM), the GreenArmor System creates a unique, economical system that protects against elevated levels of hydraulic lift and shear forces on slopes and in channels. Consisting of 95% open space, Enkamat’s lofty matrix readily accepts the hydraulically applied Flexterra infill, encouraging fast turf establishment and long-term root reinforcement. Providing immediate and lasting protection, the GreenArmor System exceeds safety factors of other TRMs.

IECS
IECS recently completed a 74,112-square-foot project for a unique landfill perimeter channel at the Indian River Generating Station in Sussex County, DE. Cable concrete was chosen for ease of installation. IECS is the only manufacturer that attaches Geo Textile to the ACB mats. By producing onsite, the client saved thousands on transportation costs. The coal landfill site will be protected from erosion pressures for years to come.

FIBER MARKETING INTERNATIONAL
Rainier Fiber is a 100% wood-fiber mulch made for use in hydraulic planting. The mulch is made from clean, fresh-cut Western softwood chips. The fibers are separated by a thermo-mechanical process using high-temperature steam and a rubbing action through a defibrator. The combination of clean wood chips and heat produces the best sterile and toxic-free mulch for germination and growth of seed, stolons, and sprigs.

MODULAR GABION SYSTEMS
The Missouri Department of Transportation opted for mechanically stabilized earth gabion walls to stabilize and support slope embankments along a stretch of Route 17. Gabion MSE walls have three main components: facing element, reinforcement, and backfill. In this case, the facing element consisted of welded wire mesh, 3-foot-wide and 3-foot-high gabions, stepped back 6 feet at every course. The reinforcement element consisted of welded 3-inch-by-3-inch wire mesh, galvanized and PVC coated, supplied in rolls 6 feet wide and 150 feet long. All gabions and reinforcing mesh were supplied by Modular Gabion Systems (MGS), a division of the C.E. Shepherd Co. in Houston, TX.

GEOSLOPE
GeoStudio 2007 is an integrated suite of software applications for geotechnical and geo-environmental modeling that can be used to analyze almost any problem encountered in geotechnical, geo-environmental, civil, and mining engineering projects. The software’s unique and powerful integration allows customers to use the analysis results from one product in another. For example, SIGMA/W may be used to establish initial static stress conditions for a QUAKE/W dynamic earthquake analysis. Then SEEP/W can be used to dissipate the excess pore-water pressures calculated by QUAKE/W. Finally, the resulting pore-water pressure and stress distributions in a SLOPE/W stability analysis can be used.
